The Patriots volleyball team pledged to “Dig for the Cure” at their home game on Oct. 25 against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and they dug deep.
The team ended the match against UMHB with 72 digs, coach Kristee Phelps said, which is 18 digs above average for the Patriots.
The ladies collected flat donations before game day, as well as pledges for a specific amount for every Patriot dig in the match.
With the final count in, Phelps said her team raised more than $1,000, all of which will go to help the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation raise awareness and fund research in the fight against breast cancer.
