University officials  implemented a new mass notification service this semester called Patriot Alert. It provides critical information to students during emergencies on campus like severe weather, shootings or other situations that require immediate action.

When activated, PatriotALERT can send e-mail, voice and text messages to the campus community within minutes. Students will receive emergency alerts to their campus e-mail address. • Log-in to myUTTyler (http://pops.uttyler.edu) on the UT Tyler home page.

“If you do not update your telephone contact information, we may not be able to reach you in an emergency. We strongly recommend that students provide at lest one updated phone number to ensure that they receive emergency messages in a timely manner,” Police Chief Mike Medders, said.

Students must provide updated contact information using the following instructions:

  • Click on the “Student Home Page” tab in the upper         left corner.
  • Click on the “Student Center” link in the right-side “System Access: menu.
  • Scroll down to the “Personal Information” section and use the pull-down menu to select “Phone Numbers” then click the forward icon.
  • You may provide up to three phone numbers – the  Campus, home and cellular numbers will be used. Your cell number is important to receive text alerts
  • Click “Save” when you have finished entering your phone numbers.

The PatriotALERT service will only be used for campus emergency notifications. More information is available at http://www.uttyler.edu/emergency/patriotalert
