Two University students are among the newest members of Tyler's Rotary Young Citizens Club.
Graduate student Marc Randle of Edgewood and junior Ciera Ward of Tyler were chosen to represent the university in the club, part of Rotary International.
To be named an outstanding young citizen, students should be exceptional in the practices of citizenship, cleanliness, thriftiness, loyalty, courtesy, honesty, service, dependability, sportsmanship, scholarship and leadership.
"Marc and Ciera are two outstanding examples of the literally thousands of high quality students enrolled at UT Tyler, and we are grateful to Rotary Club of Tyler for recognizing not only Marc and Ciera, but also recognizing representatives of all schools in East Texas," Dr. Howard Patterson, vice president for student affairs, said.
They were recognized during the Rotary Club of Tyler and Rotary Young Citizens Club Annual Awards Banquet held earlier this month at Tyler Junior College.
Rotary International is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.
