The University of Texas at Tyler Students in Free Enterprise members advance to the 2010 SIFE USA National Exposition May 11-13 in Minneapolis, Minn.
SIFE won the regional championship at the USA Regional Competition in Dallas. The event is one of the 12 competitions being held across the United States this spring.
The culmination of the SIFE program is an annual series of competitions that provide a forum for teams to present the results of their projects and to be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges.
Teams compete at the regional and national levels, then at the international level where the national champion teams from each country meet at the SIFE World Cup.
UT Tyler SIFE is one of more than 500 SIFE programs in the United States.
Participating students use business concepts to develop community outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.
During the academic year, UT Tyler SIFE organized 10 projects on campus in the Tyler community and abroad. These projects included conducting skills-training workshops with the East Texas Crisis Center, advising a local business on its marketing plan and providing a clean drinking-water system to a village in northern Nicaragua.
