Election duties prevented more than half of the Student Government Association members from attending their weekly Thursday meeting.
Only 10 senators and two officers comprised the general assembly.
SGA vice president Sara Khalifa, standing in for president Amy Whitehouse, presided over the meeting.
Parliamentarian Rene Hernandez said most of the absentees were manning election polls.
The meeting, lasting only 25 minutes, consisted of a series of senator reports, as the absence of a quorum prohibited any official business.
Hernandez reported online voting seemed to be going well, but there had been mixed feedback as some students loved it and others did not.
“I will further consider it for next year,” he said.
Khalifa reminded everyone not to forget the “Meet Your Senator Night” event planned for 6-9 p.m. Friday in the University Center Ballroom.
Senator Brakeyshia Samms, a freshman representing the College of Arts and Sciences, said the event should be a lot of fun.
“It’s sort of like “The Amazing Race,” Samms said. “It’s a scavenger hunt, too. It will start in the ballroom, and then everyone will run around from building to building gathering answers to questions listed on a questionnaire.”
She said after collecting the answers, everyone is supposed to meet back in the ballroom for refreshments and to talk to the senators.
Samms said prizes are planned to be given to students finishing in first, second and third places.
