The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team dropped their second game of the season, losing 2-1 to Trinity (Texas) on Sunday afternoon at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.
The Patriots controlled the ball for most of the first half, taking seven shots and only allowing five.
The first goal came in the 49th minute. Trinity's Jordan Azar found the net off a pass from Kelly Watts.
The Patriots tied the game in minute 61. Analiz Medina scored off a rebound kick from Kendall Kramer.
Trinity, however, wasted no time regaining the lead, scoring less than two minutes later. Dana Carter scored the eventually winning goal. Watts recorded the assistant.
The Patriots almost tied the game with 24 minutes remaining, but a diving save by Katie Garrett thwarted the Patriots comeback.
"We've gotten better everyday," coach Stefani Webb said. "The biggest challenge today was our mentality, and today was the best we've been mentally prepared to play."
Kramer led the Patriots with three shots and an assist. Lauren Thomas recorded three shots as well.
Garrett earned the win for Trinity, allowing one goal and saving five shots. Morgan Dux played all 90 minutes at goal for the Patriots, saving five shots and allowing two goals.
The Patriots begin American Southwest Conference play against McMurry at home Thursday afternoon. The defending ASC champions come to town Saturday afternoon at two.
