Monday
Paige Parrish helped fuel a 19-2 run in the first half to give the Patriots a lead they would never relinquish against the Mountaineers. Parrish scored 10 points in the first half, along with five assists.
The Patriots continue to out-rebound and outplay Schreiner, especially at the post position. Forward Lauren Glasco scored 13 points in the second half and led the Patriots with 19 points. Glasco made eight of her nine shots.
Afritina Anderson earned another double-double by scoring 14 points and reeling in 10 rebounds.
Parrish finished the game with 14 points and eight assists. Melissa Thomas joined her teammates in double figures, scoring 11 points.
The Patriots made 50 percent of their shots, while holding Schreiner to 32 percent shooting.
“I think we’re coming together as a basketball team,” head coach Stasha Richards said. “We’re finding our niche right now and just need to get better defensively.”
Hannah Burleson led Schreiner with 19 points. Kira Chester followed Burleson with 10 points
The Patriots showed their resilience against Hardin-Simmons in a contest with four ties and six lead changes.
With eight minutes remaining in the first half the Patriots took a nine-point lead following a 10-2 run.
Hardin-Simmons, however, responded with a 10-2 run as well to cut the deficit to one.
The Cowgirls took a 41-39 lead into the locker room despite Parrish’s 19 points.
The seesaw continued in the second half. Parrish hit a three to give the Patriots the lead with 17 minutes remaining.
Hardin-Simmons took their second lead seven minutes later. However, on the next possession Thomas’ three regained the lead for Tyler.
The Patriots took the lead for good with just under six minutes left on an Anderson layup.
Parrish scored a career high 32 points, two points behind Kasey Buggs’ all-time school record. Parrish shot 12-19 from the floor, 3-5 from behind the arch.
Thomas and Anderson each had 11 points.
Lindsay Hausmann dished out a career high 12 assists, which also sets a school record for most assists in a game.
Lindsey Newcombe led Hardin-Simmons with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Former Patriots player Becky Taylor recorded two points and eight rebounds for the Cowgirls.
Saturday
The Patriots suffered their first conference loss to McMurry.
After being down from the start, the Patriots took their first lead with nine minutes remaining in the first half.
However, gave it back two minutes later to never see it again.
Parrish tied the game with 16:51 left. McMurry retook to the lead on the next possession for good.
Anderson led the Patriots with 18 points and nine rebounds. Parrish followed with 14 points.
Hailey Stacy led McMurry with 14 points. Anna Berthel recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds for McMurry.
The Patriots are now 4-2 overall; 3-1 in ASC play.
Their next conference opponent will be Mary Hardin-Baylor on Dec. 12 at home.
The Patriots will first play a non-conference bout against Jarvis Christian Dec. 8 at home.
