Dr. Alisa White, professor and dean of the University's College of Arts and Sciences, is leaving her post to serve as provost of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.

White has lead the College of Arts and Sciences since 2006.

"I'll be sad to leave here. I have really strong connections with the leaders in this college and I love working with all of them," White said.

White is expected to start her new position at the beginning of the fall 2010 semester.

"I'm excited about an opportunity to grow professionally. Midwestern [State University] has a similar community feel to UT Tyler," White said.

White earned a B.A. in business from Lee College, and both her M.S. degree in Library and Information Sciences and her Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Tennessee.

White began her career at The University in 2005 when she served as chair and associate professor for the communications department.

White said she believes the College of Arts and Sciences is well equipped to continue operating effectively.

"I have tremendous confidence in the College of Arts and Sciences. I believe the college is set to move forward," White said.
