Jeff Chandler’s 8K time of 27:14 led the University’s men’s cross country team to a second place finish at the Texas Div. III State Cross Country Championship in Seguin. Chandler’s time also earned him the individual crown at the meet, beating Trinity’s Zach Brush by 15 seconds.
The Patriots finished with 47 points, 19 points behind Trinity.
Ford Noak and Joncary Faubien finish eight and ninth for the Patriots, finishing three seconds a part. Nick Huff followed placing 13th. Alexander Wilson and Will Krogman finished 16th and 18th respectively.
The women’s cross country team took home fourth place from Seguin, scoring 105 points. Trinity’s 27 points earned them first place overall with four running finishing in the top 10. Rosemary Steup and Vanessa Moreno led Trinity, placing first and second overall.
Jessica Waninger finished third overall to lead the Patriots, running the 6K race in 24:27. Sarah Hankla’s time of 25:29 earned her 15th place.
Missy Hebert and Ginny Murphy placed 25th and 26th for the Patriots.
The Patriots’ next meet is scheduled for Saturday at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.
