Spring sports at the University ended May 21 when the Patriots' baseball team lost 9-8 to Mississippi College, eliminating them from the NCAA Div. III Regional tournament in McMinnville, Ore.
The team lost its first contest in Oregon 12-6 to Pomona-Pitzer, and kept itself in the tournament by defeating Chapman 6-5 before losing to the Choctaws.
Tyler Clakley and Aaron McCain earned a spot on the All-Tournament team. Clakley had five hits in 13 at-bats during the tournament, with three home runs. McCain knocked six hits in 13 at-bats, scoring three times and driving in two runs.
The Patriots advanced to the Regional tournament after winning the American Southwest Conference Tournament and finished the season 36-12.
The University's softball team saw its season come to an end May 15 in Pinville, La. The Patriots lost 4-3 to East Texas Baptist, which eliminated them from the Regional Tournament.
The team lost its first game in Pineville 3-2 to Southwestern University, and won 11-8 against La Verne to stay in the tournament to play ETBU, who advanced to the Div. III College World Series.
Whitney Wyly and Amanda Busby earned spots onto the Regional tournament team.
