Seven Texas Alpha Xi members attended the Alpha Chi National Convention in Indianapolis April 2-5.
Brittany Pierce, Brad Quillin, Malick Bittaye, Jack Adams, Kayla Shannon, Andrea Goodwin, and Abigail Green presented papers. Pierce, Quillin, Bittaye, Adams also competed for Alpha Chi scholarships.
Stacy Alexander, 09-10 Alpha Chi chapter president, served as the student delegate to the National Council of the Alpha Chi from Region II, and on the planning committee for the convention.
James Koukl, faculty co-sponsor, presided over a session and served as presentation judge in the category of health science.
Suzanne Pundt, faculty co-sponsor, served as a presentation judge in the category of chemistry. As Region II secretary/treasurer, she conducted the Region II business meeting. During the convention, Pundt also served on the Gaston-Nolle scholarship committee, honorary membership committee, and chaired the graduate issues committee.
The University’s Texas Alpha Xi chapter donated more than 20 pounds of children’s books to the convention Literacy theme, organizers said.
The books were collected during a campus book drive.
