MARIETTA, Ohio – Senior Ben Donnan of the Patriots men’s track and field team posted a time of 1:53.28 in the 800-meter time trails at the NCAA Division III National Championships on May 22 at Marietta College’s Don Drumm Stadium, but failed to qualify for Saturday’s final.

Donnan, a native of Paris, led for the majority of the race, but was unable to hold off the pack down the stretch.

The 800-meter defending national champion, Emmanuel Bofa of Whitworth, won the heat with a time of 1:50.71 and set a new stadium record in the process.

CLINTON, Miss. - The University men and women’s track and field teams finished third and fifth, respectively, at the 2009 American Southwest Conference Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.

The men earned a total of 79.5 points in the events, while the women earned 32.

In their final home match of the season, the No. 12th nationally ranked Patriots men’s tennis team clinched at least a share of its sixth consecutive American Southwest Conference East Division title.

The Patriots men’s golf team won a school-record fifth tournament on Tuesday when they claimed the championship in the Texas-Dallas Spring Classic at Sherrill Park in Richardson.

Meanwhile in Georgetown, the women finished fifth in the Southwestern Invitational held at the Berry Creek Country Club.

The men were second after the first round on Monday, but battled back to take lead of the 15-team field heading into Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Lon Morris finished the third round eight strokes better than the Patriots, but it was not enough as the Patriots held on for the win.
