The Campus Activities Board sponsored the Backlight Secret Party, in light of PostSecret, in order to entertain and relieve students of stress before the week of finals.

 

PostSecret is a continuous community art movement, which allows people to reveal their deepest secret anonymously on a postcard. Frank Warren founded the movement in 2005.

 

"I've been astonished by the frailty and heroism I see in the secrets of ordinary people like you and me, living our everyday lives," Warren said on the PostSecret Web site.

During finals week, the need for caffeine seems to be greater. Students crowd into coffee shops, sipping lattes and taking shots of espresso in the days before exams. The lines on campus seem to lengthen with overstressed students in need of energy and focus.
Glenwood Fish Fry

A fish fry conducted at Glenwood Church of Christ on Nov. 10 benefited an alumna paralyzed from a July accident.
Keisha Whistler fell backwards six feet after a chair buckled out from under her, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down and unable to teach.

Slacklining

Slacklining, or walking on a rope of nylon line, is a new craze on campus, Tyler Wacker, civil engineering major, said.

Former Costa Rican President Oscar Arias spoke Monday at the Cowen Center on demilitarization for world peace.

Arias served as president twice and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987.

Seventeen students gathered at the University Pines clubhouse Tuesday for a one-time break dancing class taught by Brooke Bradley. Bradley, a former hip-hop (urban dancing) student at a studio in Longview, sought to teach fellow students a dance to “The Master Beat” remix song, along with any other tricks such as, floor poses and spinning flips.
