On Sunday, the Grammies aired highlighting the best movies of 2008 in a number of different categories.

In retrospect the Golden Raspberry Awards, more commonly referred to as the Razzies, aired the night before and awarded the worst movies of the year in a way that the Grammies could never do.

Awarding the top shelf poppycock since its first award 28 years ago, the Razzies were created to parallel the Grammies.

One of the top nominated movies of the year, Disaster Movie, received six nominations for “Razzies” and has two University students in its cast.

Based of the novel Twilight, the screenplay adaptation on the book left me indifferent.

The story begins when Bella Swan, a high school junior, moves in with her dad after her mother remarries. Her mother lives in Phoenix, her father in Forks, Washington, one of the wettest places on the continental Untied States.

On her first day at school, Bella meets many new people; only one person sticks out in her mind though: Edward Cullen.

Edward is a foster child in the community of Forks, with his two brothers and two sisters.

Romantic movies are always a hit in the Hollywood box office, but not much is ever heard about romantic books becoming popular.

Currently author Stephanie Meyer is the most talked about author in the literary world due to her best-selling vampire-turned-love-story Twilight Series. Larry Doyle, author of I love you, Beth Cooper, has more experience than most writers have. Doyle was a writer for Bevis and Butthead, The Simpsons, and has been published in Esquire Magazine as well as the New Yorker.

Eight years after the last album, Stiff Upper Lip, was released in 2000 the Australian rock band, idolized for their immense fame in the 1980s, releases their latest album Black Ice.

The so called single from the album, “Rock ‘n Roll Train,” released a month before the album piqued my interest in the band again and I eagerly awaited the release of the full album.

My hopes were quickly dashed when I bought the album however.

Dear Miley Cyrus,

I know you are young and hyper, but try and put your attention deficit disorder aside and listen up. I understand you are the coolest thing out there right now for kids and tweens. You have a Disney Channel show called “Hannah Montana” that so far has 54 episodes with more than another 30 in the works.

You also have a worldwide concert tour going on, which in itself is huge news.

Covering a topic most fictional authors avoid, “13 Reasons Why” begins with a simple high school senior Clay Jenkins. After coming home one day he finds a simple package has been delivered to him that is full of archaic cassette tapes with no note and no return address.

These tapes proceed to ruin the rest of his day and change his life. After popping the tapes into an old tape player that Clay found in his garage, he hears to his delight, and to his horror, the voice of Hannah Baker, his crush and fling who committed suicide the week before.
