R. Don Cowan Center organizers are ushering in the performance hall’s 15th season with shows ranging from a fantastical Disney adaptation to a return visit from a comedy legend.

Executive Director Susan Thomae-Morphe said she is excited to be celebrating a year of milestones.

“What’s interesting is that it is the 40th anniversary of the University, the 30th of our distinguished lecture series, and the 15th anniversary of the Cowan Center,” Thomae-Morphew said. “That’s a lot of celebrating.”

The University Chorale used to function as a multi-gendered ensemble of singers who joined to perform their craft. Now, that function is set to change in the form of a split into male and female choirs.

Cameron Rose, director of choral activities, said making the change is something he has been thinking about since late spring.

“When we began our chorale, I could see we had a nucleus of singers that could form the beginning of a men’s choir,” he said. “It was visible when we met and sang that first day.”
