Patriots head to Regionals

Men’s and women’s tennis teams advance to regionals after their fifth straight American Southwest Conference Championships. This season the Patriots held the ASC Championship Tournament at Summers Tennis Center April 27-29.


”It’s always hard to be the host, you always have distractions,” head coach Chris Bizot said.  “It’s a busy week and it’s hard to prepare so that’s a big challenge.”

Only five years after it’s inception, the track and field team looks to compete for the top spot in the American Southwest Conference championships.

 

The Patriots have competed in five track and field meets this season to help prepare them for the conference meet.

 

The men have been strong all season in the field events in which they have broken school records in the discus throw, hammer throw, javelin, shot put, long jump and high jump.

With the signing of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos finally found an excuse to get rid of Tim Tebow.

 

The Broncos traded Tebow and a seventh round draft pick March 21 to the New York Jets for their fourth and sixth round draft picks.

 

There initially was a conflict about who was going to pay Tebow the $5 million salary advance the Broncos still owed him. The Jets decided they would pay $2.53 million and the Broncos will pay the rest to finalize the deal.

The Patriot baseball team is tied with Centenary College for the lead atop the American Southwest Conference East Division after opening the season 8-3.

After a third-place finish in the NCAA Division III College World Series, the Patriot softball team remains poised to win the American Southwest Conference East Division this season, according to the ASC preseason poll voters. The Patriots received 16 out of 21 votes to become the division favorite.
