The largest financial-aid program in Texas may face drastic cuts in the upcoming legislative session due to a state-budget deficit that could range from $18 to $25 million.
State officials requested in a May 27 memorandum all state agencies submit a budget proposal reflecting a possible 10-percent reduction, in addition to a request for general-revenue funds.

University budget cuts almost left the Hot Tub Club members in cold water.

Jared Haney, cross country team member and Hot Tub Club president, said the club started as an informal gathering of cross-country team members last year as a way to relieve stress after working out.

"We were just looking for a stress-free environment to interact," Haney said.

He said the informal members decided to form an official club at the urging of Chauncey Deller, recreational program assistant.

Career Services and the Office of Graduate Studies partnered to bring "Going Global" access to University students.

The program, implemented in August, has been available for 6 weeks. The service expands on the assistance offered by the Office of Career Services and Patriot Jobs by opening the door to job searches worldwide.

Going Global is the only international job-search resource of this type on the Internet, and both offices are very excited to begin offering access to University students, Garnesha Beck, director of career services, said.
