After about a year of building from the ground up, the Patriot Orchestra is ready to take on the spring semester with high hopes.

 

“Last spring, the Patriot Orchestra was just a club,” violinist Robin Ragland, a senior math major, said. “We just started meeting once or twice a week and continued into the summer, and we had guest directors come in and work with us.”

 

Senior Ciera Ward, a chemistry major, planted the seed for this growing organization and serves as its current president.

Father Matt Boulter, assistant priest at Christ Episcopal Church in downtown Tyler, wants a way to get to know the young people in Tyler since he is still new to the area.

 

“The Christian life is all about asking questions, especially in college,” Boulter said.

 

This past semester, he and a few University students decided to start an organization called Epiphany in which anyone who is interested or has questions about God’s word could hang out and study scripture.
