Former University President Dr. George F. Hamm, whose tenure oversaw the development of the first campus student housing and performing arts venue, died Sunday after a brief illness. He was 79.

Former U.S. President and former Texas Governor George W. Bush is coming to the University. Bush, who served as President from 2001 to 2009, also served as governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000.

He is scheduled to appear at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Cowan Performing Arts Center as a guest speaker.

The school-spirited Texas-style homecoming fast approaches.

The University's homecoming activities kick off October 18 and end October 23.

"It's not one to miss because we are really trying to do it a lot different then we have in the past years," Rana Khalifa, homecoming chair, said.

The Campus Activities Board members have almost completely finished planning, according to Khalifa.
