The men’s Patriots basketball team defeated LeTourneau 89-73 Saturday to keep their playoff hopes alive despite losing to East Texas Baptist 72-67 in overtime on Thursday.

The Patriots held a 14-8 lead midway through the first half against ETBU. Turnovers plagued minutes eight through four, paving the way for the Tigers to take a 22-19 lead at half time.

Students may get what some say is a much-needed study break before finals if University officials decide to add one or two dead days’ to semester schedules.

Student Government Association president Amy Whitehouse and vice president Sara Khalifa proposed the addition to the Faculty Senate at a Jan. 15 meeting.

The University’s College of Nursing and Health Science is partnering with LeTourneau University’s School of Arts and Sciences to provide nursing training to LETU students to help address nation’s extreme demand for registered nurses.

Pending accreditation approvals, LETU students will be able to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences from LETU and a Bachelor of Science Nursing from the University in a four-year program (including summers) that utilizes the UT Longview University Center nursing education program.
