Saturday is the last day to donate to PATH's Winter Coats for Kids drive.

Gently used coats may be dropped off at any participating dry cleaners where they will be cleaned for free and given to PATH for distribution.

Participating Cleaners include Dry Clean Super Store, Eagle Cleaners, Hart's Cleaners, Lucky Cleaners, Regency Cleaners, Shannon's Cleaners, VIP Cleaners and West Gentry Dry Cleaners. Each business will have a Coats for Kids poster displayed in the window.

New coats can be taken directly to the PATH office, 402 W. Front St., Tyler.

Students have until Friday to drop from one or more University courses through the Registrar’s Office. Students wishing to withdraw from a course can contact the Registrar’s Office and receive a drop form.

The course instructor, the department chair, or the major college dean must sign the drop form.  Dropping or withdrawing from classes may affect financial aid eligibility, ...

The University Career Services will hold its annual Patriots to Professionals Career Fair Friday, Garnesha Beck, career services coordinator, announced.

Open to all University majors, the fair will be 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the University Center Ballroom. About 40 area employers will participate.

City of Tyler Animal Control officials caught their sixth skunk of the year Thursday morning outside of the Administration Building. Charles Petrovich, University police officer, called it in to Animal Control with City of Tyler Animal Control Officer Sharon Smith arriving on the scene.

The effects of the H1N1 virus are starting to make their way onto the University campus with at least seven reports of students and faculty staying home.
“The two students that were in Patriot Village and Orneles Hall that we were notified of one of them was at the very beginning of September,” David Hill, director of residence life and judicial affairs said. “We had another case that was reported to us roughly a week ago and that student went home to recover.”

Monster Bash is a Halloween costume party slated for Friday in the Ornelas Activity Center. Gym Class Heroes, a rap and rock band from New York, is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. at Wise Auditorium on the Tyler Junior College Campus

Tickets can be purchased through Jennifer Skinner or the Office of Student Life and Leadership for $10 with a valid University ID. Monster Bash is set to kick off at 9 p.m. and will last until 1 a.m.

Student Government Association officials announced three new senators Oct. 16 following a run-off election.

Senators Ashley Mendoza and Joshua Minter will represent University Pines and an open Palestine seat respectively for the 2009-10 executive session.
