Career Services is holding an education career fair April 8 to help students connect with prospective employers.

The event is planned from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. April 8 in the Ornales Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road. Current students must bring a student ID to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes.

Major campus construction is completed and no more is being planned, largely because of financial restraints, Vice President Gregg Lassen said Wednesday during a town hall meeting.

Vice President Gregg Lassen said no apologies are necessary for administration's "informal " approach to student input regarding a proposed tuition increase.

"I take some of the responsibility myself that the process was not as formal as it may have been in the past, but I'm not apologizing for that. I'm happy about that," he told participants at Wednesday's town hall meeting.

Patriot Talon columnist Tina Bausinger, an English major at the University, is among the authors featured in the national bestselling series "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book series.

Her short story, Dad's Tomatoes, is appearing in the new "Chicken Soup for the Soup: Thanks Dad. 101 Stories about Gratitude, Love and Good Times." Bausinger wrote the story as a tribute to her father, who died in 2003.

However, for some students, this much-needed break consists of backbreaking labor, rough cots and filthy bug-infested dwellings all in the name of helping the less fortunate.

In my last column, which undoubtedly you read, I inexplicably declared my dislike for country music as a whole (excluding Willie Nelson, and as an afterthought, Johnny Cash), and explained how such a nice young lady as Ke$ha is able to control the top of Billboard’s charts with her single “Tik Tok.”

I received some fan mail after the paper came out, which, in no less than 5,000 words, explained to me that I am an ass and had no clue what I am talking about, period. Seriously. Not just about country, but about all music.

She’s right.

The University plans to hold Family Service and Fun Day so students and their loved ones can reconnect and spend time together.

The event is scheduled for April 10 and includes a series of activities that families can enjoy together.

A morning service project is planned for 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the offices of People Attempting To Help (PATH), 402 W. Front St.

A tailgate party is set for noon at the University’s Irwin Ballpark, followed by a 1 p.m. baseball game, featuring the Patriots against Louisiana College.
