Original artwork shown at Meadows

University student Bette Barron Cyr created this piece entitled, “Degrees of Commitment” for the Juried Student Exhibition held at Meadows Gallery. The exhibit runs through Aug. 14.
Original endeavors of University art students remain on exhibit as part of the annual Meadows Gallery Juried Student Exhibition, showcasing the best work of the academic year, gallery coordinator Ray Sikes announced.
The exhibit will continue in the gallery from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Aug. 14.
Faculty from the Department of Art and Art History juried the submissions.
Graduate student Allison Chew of Corsicana received the $1,000 Christopher Lyon Memorial Scholarship, awarded to a promising art student selected by a department faculty selection committee.
Two-dimensional award recipients and their art pieces include: best of show, Jill Brown, Tyler; first place, Allison Broome, Whitehouse; second place, Cierra McGuckie, Tyler; third place, Ashley Webb, Tyler; honorable mention, Daisy Hoitsma, Tyler; and honorable mention, Sarah Worsham, Joaquin.
Three-dimensional winners include; best of show, Abhidnya Ghuge, Tyler; first place, John Bradley, Tyler; second place, Chelsey Cope, Tyler; third place, Greg Durant, Jacksonville; honorable mention, Benjamin Wood, Overton; honorable mention, Simon Saleh, Tyler.
