Eight years after the last album, Stiff Upper Lip, was released in 2000 the Australian rock band, idolized for their immense fame in the 1980s, releases their latest album Black Ice.

The so called single from the album, “Rock ‘n Roll Train,” released a month before the album piqued my interest in the band again and I eagerly awaited the release of the full album.

My hopes were quickly dashed when I bought the album however.

The album comes in your choice of three different colors (no difference between the discs) and a deluxe edition that includes a small picture book with the disc.

Although guitarist Angus Young said he wrote harder rocking riffs for this album, I failed to hear them. AC/DC’s album hasn’t really lost any of their steam; the band is still rocking out and sounds near the same as they did back in their golden age.

However, with the members of the band pushing 60 years old, they have lost steam in their age. The album is a good rock ‘n roll album, but with no song sticking out as a clear single, or any song sticking out at all, I was asking myself “is this over yet” by the eighth track.

Black Ice gets two out of five stars for basic rockability. The lack of a clear single on top of the groups ailing voices does nothing for their image.
