Ambort voted UTSAC Chairwoman

Student Government Association president Kerrie Ambort has been elected chairwoman for academic affairs committee for the UT system Student Advisory Council.

She will represent the student bodies of all 15 UT System universities.

“The Student Advisory council consists of student representatives from each 15 system institutions,” Ambort said. “In most cases it is the president of the class or of the Student Government Association. We are there to address and make recommendations to the regents on behalf of all the students in the UT system.”

The University of Texas System Student Advisory Council was established in 1989 to provide advice on a variety of student issues, according to the SAC Web site.

The SAC gives input and recommendations to the UT system board of regents. Each University sends two representatives to the SAC.

The Board of Regents may call on the SAC to give annual updates and information on specific issues. Additionally, the regents may ask SAC representatives to attend task forces of focus groups.

The SAC meets with UT system board members annually, according to the site.
