Greek life is now under supervision of Brittany Temple, who started at The University as Greek Coordinator June 9. She succeeds Lamar Bryant who served as the student development specialist overseeing fraternity and sorority affairs.

Temple says she is eager to help the University’s Greek community grow.

“Greek life is fairly new here and there is a lot of potential for growth,” she said.

Temple is originally from Arlington. She attended Baylor University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2006 and recently completed a master’s degree in student affairs administration.

During her time at Baylor, Temple was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and worked as Campus Programs Graduate Assistant for Student Productions.

Temple said her duties as Greek Coordinator include “anything and everything.” She said she will be in close communication with the Greek councils, help with paperwork and ensure University guidelines are followed.

“I’m here to steer them in the right direction and be their biggest resource and advocate at the University,” Temple said.

She said she has three main goals as Greek coordinator. She hopes to unite the Greek community, increase involvement in Greek life and educate the University and the local community about Greek organizations.

“It’s not just about social networking, but also scholarship, leadership and service,” Temple said.
Greek life will get a jump-start in the fall with Temple as recruitment begins Sept. 8.
